Depending on your permissions, and on the context configured for the report you are working on, sending this report to a co-author will be mandatory or optional.

  • In a single-author workflow, you can:
    • Immediately sign off on the report or,
    • Decide on an ad hoc basis to send the report to a co-author, thus partially signing off the report or,
    • Send the report to a reviewer and sign it off yourself when it returns as review feedback task.
  • In a multi-author workflow, depending on your permissions, you can:
    • Partially sign off the report and send it on to a co-author or,
    • Sign off the report immediately without involving other authors or,
    • Send the report to a reviewer and sign it off yourself when it returns as review feedback task.

When you send a report to a co-author, the report status changes to partially validated.

Tip:

If you are required to assign all your reports to the same co-author, set this author as the default co-author.

You can do this in the Options or the To co-author dialog.

This changes the name of the To co-author button on the task toolbar to To name_of_default_co-author.

To send a report to a co-author
  1. Start reading one or more studies.
  2. Finish your report.

    Note:

    If using digital dictation, first have the dictation transcribed by the transcriptionist.

    When you partially validate or sign off the report, only the text typed in the report sections is saved. The sound file is deleted.

  3. To send the report to a co-author, do one of the following:
    • Click To co-author.

      The reading task is assigned automatically according to the task assignment rules defined by your system administrator. The report status is one of the following:

      • Preliminary, if you do not have the Can partially sign off reports permission.
      • Preliminary or Partially validated, if you have the Can partially sign off reports permission.
    • Next to To co-author, click , and select To co-author with options, then:
      1. Optionally, type a task comment and change the task priority.
      2. If you have the Can partially sign off reports permission, select the report status: Partially validated (default value) or Preliminary.

        If you are not granted the Can partially sign off reports permission, the report status is Preliminary.

      3. Optimally, change the task priority.
      4. Optionally, expand Assign to and select the task group or author you want to assign the reading task to.

        Otherwise, the reading task is assigned automatically according to the task assignment rules defined by your system administrator.

      5. Click OK.
    • Select More > To co-author, then:
      1. Select the task assignment group or co-author you want to assign the reading task to.
      2. If you have the Can partially sign off reports permission, select the report status: Partially validated (default value) or Preliminary.

        If you are not granted the Can partially sign off reports permission, the report status is Preliminary.

      3. Optionally, type a task comment and change the task priority.
      4. Click OK.

Once you have completed the reading task your name will appear in the report as an author, a partial approver, or an approver.

Which of these roles will be displayed in the report depends on how the report template is configured. For more information, contact your system administrator.
