Managing late imagesTopic number: 1425415010805
Late images are images held up at the modality for various reasons. They do not arrive into the PACS system in time for the reading. Late images can influence your report.
Late images complement a study that has already been or is being read. The situation happens rarely, and can occur because:
- Technical issues at the modality or post-processing station causes delays that can take up to several months to resolve.
- A technologist omits to send all images directly to the PACS, then corrects the action. In this case, images are normally delayed only a few minutes.
Indication of late images for studies without a validated report
As soon as late images are available for a study without a validated report, you are notified as follows:

Validated reports and late images
If configured by your administrator, a verify report task is created for a report that you have already signed off, when a late image becomes available. The task appears on your task list.
