Creating a retake taskTopic number: 1543414441263

While performing a reading task for a study with a completed acquisition task, you can create a retake task to request additional or higher quality images. Unless you specify otherwise, retake tasks are assigned according to the default task assignment rules.

Important!

  • You can create retake tasks only:
    • For a started reading task in Enterprise Imaging 8.1.4 or later.
    • If this initial reading task is not yet completed.
    • If the acquisition was performed in Enterprise Imaging.
To create a retake task
  1. Start the reading task.
  2. On the Text area or Image area toolbar, click Retake. Retake
  3. If the reading task belongs to a multi-procedure order, indicate the procedures for which to create a retake task.
  4. Optionally, select a Scheduled date and Scheduled time for the retake task.

By default, the current date and time are indicated. The assigned technologist will perform the retake task as soon as possible.

If you need the images to be acquired at a specific moment in time, you can when they must be performed.

  5. In the Task comments field, type a comment with instructions for the technologist.
  6. Optionally, select the task priority.

By default, the task priority is calculated by the system.

  7. Optionally, to select what to do after creating the retake task expand the Reporting options section.

By default, the following are selected:

    • The Stop reporting option.

      This closes the reporting task.

      • The Save the current report as preliminary checkbox.

If using a third-party reporting solution, this option is unavailable.

      • The Assign to me option.

When the retake task has been completed, the new reporting task that is created is assigned back to you.

      • The Auto-assign option.

When the retake task has been completed, the new reporting task that is created is assigned back to the default assignee or assignees.

You can change these settings as needed.

The Continue reporting anyway option can be useful if performing an emergency reading task.

The reporting task is not closed. The retake task can be performed in parallel. Extra images acquired as a result of the retake task are added as late images.

  8. Click Create.

If you have chosen to stop reporting, the reading task for which you created a retake task is removed from your To do list.

The retake task is added to the To do list and the Retake tasks list of the assigned technologist.

    Important!

    • You cannot reschedule retake tasks once they have been created.
    • If using third-party applications to perform and complete retake tasks, the status of these tasks is not updated in Enterprise Imaging.
    • During retake task creation, you cannot manually assign retake tasks to a specific technologist or to assignment groups.
    • If you initiate a retake task for one procedure in an order, a reading task is created for all procedures in this order, even if the images for these procedures have not yet been acquired.
    • The scheduled date and time set when you create a retake task becomes the scheduled date and time for the study. It appears in the columns for the study and, if configured, also in the report. This affects professional billing. The DFT billing messages for professional billing are sent on report completion. They contain the scheduled date and time of the retake task.
    • If the reading workflow is interrupted during retake, reading tasks are recreated on completion of the retake task.

This logic is currently hard-coded and might result in unwanted reading tasks, for instance for studies that are canceled in the meantime.

    WARNING!

Be aware that alerts generated by check and warning rules, warning of issues such as allergies or pregnancy, are not displayed for retake tasks.
