You can define dictation control options such as acoustic feedback, voice-operated recording, and playback speed in the Text area.

To set options for dictation controls
  1. Select Tools > Options.
  2. In the Options dialog, click Text. txt
  3. Switch to the Dictation controls tab and select appropriate values for each option.

    Play sound while fast-forwarding or rewinding (monkey chatter)Select this checkbox to enable acoustic feedback while forwarding or rewinding the dictation
    Winding speedDefines a speed for rewind and fast-forward as a factor of Playback speed
    Voice Operated Recording (silences are not recorded)Select to enable recording being activated with the sound of a voice. When enabled, silences are not recorded.
    Use auto-backspaceEnable this checkbox to select the extra number of seconds to rewind on playback
  4. From the Save new options for list, select User, Desktop profile, or This session only.

    User is the default; it sets the options for this and future sessions. Desktop profile, if available, set the options for all users of that desktop profile, except where overridden by user options.

  5. Click Save or Save & close.
