Viewing text attachments Topic number: 1425412160520

Text attachments are free-text records that enable communication within a department and with other departments regarding patients, orders, reports, and studies. You can view them in the List, Text, and Search areas.

Text attachments are available only if your system administrator has configured them.

To view text attachments
  1. To view attachment in the Text area:
    1. Open a study in the Text area.
    2. If the attachment is not visible, right-click in a pane and select Customize fields.

      In the Available data elements pane, select the attachment. To move the selection into the Displayed data elements pane, click Move. Right arrow Click Save.

    3. Expand the list by clicking the text attachment name or by clicking the arrow. Expand
    4. Review attachment values.

      Depending on the attachment type, one or more comments are linked to an attachment:

    Attachment typeDescription
    FieldOne text box is displayed in a field.
    Message boardOne or more text boxes are listed as comments under the attachment with the name of a user who added it, the creation date and time.
  2. To view text attachments in the List and Search area, do the following:
    1. In the List or Search area, right-click a list heading and select Customize columns.
    2. From the Available columns list, select a user attachment and click Move . Right arrow
    3. Click OK.
Required permission:
  • Can customize columns for themselves only, Can customize columns for themselves and their desktop profile, or Can customize columns for all levels
  • Can customize text fields for themselves only, Can customize text fields for themselves and their desktop profile, or Can customize text fields for all levels
  • Can search order level attachments
  • Can search patient level attachments
  • Can search report level attachments
  • Can search study level attachments
  • Can view order level attachments
  • Can view patient level attachments
  • Can view report level attachments
  • Can view study level attachments
