Voice clips are audio attachments that serve as an additional source of information in reports and studies. Use voice clips as an alternative to adding text comments.

Prerequisite
A dictation device is installed.

You can save a voice clip for private or public usage.

To add a voice clip
  1. In the Text area, select the report, study, or acquisition tab.
  2. Next to Voice clips, click Add new. Gray plus sign

    If the attachment is not displayed, right-click and select Customize fields to add it. If you cannot add a voice clip, contact your system administrator to change your permissions, or the attachment configuration settings.

  3. To start recording, in the Voice clips pane, click Record. Red circle
  4. Dictate the voice clip and review timing:
    • Position—Number of played seconds.
    • Length—Total number of seconds.
  5. To switch between insert (INS) and overwrite (OVR) mode, select from the menu. Mode menu
    • INS—The voice recording is inserted into the audio file at the insertion point you specify.
    • OVR—The file is overwritten by the new recording, starting at the insertion point you specify.
  6. To stop recording, click Stop. Red circle
  7. Optionally, in the Description field, type a short description.

    The description identifies the voice clip contents without listening to it first.

  8. Save the voice clip. Click OK, then select Public or Private.
    • Public—Voice clip is visible for everyone
    • Private—Voice clip is visible only to you Key

    The voice clip is added to the list of voice clips.

    Note:

    Save the voice clip before listening to the voice clip. Otherwise, the playback volume might be too loud.
  9. To listen and move through the voice clip, click the audio toolbar buttons.

    Stop Stop Stops the playing of the voice clip
    To beginning To beginning Returns the voice clip to the beginning
    To end To end Jumps the voice clip to the end
    Fast forward Fast forward Fast forwards the voice clip until you click Stop Stop
    Fast rewind Rewind

    Rewinds the voice clip until you click Stop Stop

    To control playback volume, use the Windows Volume control options.

  10. To delete the voice clip, click Delete.

    If you cannot delete, contact your system administrator to change the attachment configuration or change your permission.

Required permissions:
  • Can add order level attachments
  • Can add report level attachments
  • Can add study level attachments
  • Can customize text fields for themselves only, Can customize text fields for themselves and their desktop profile, or Can customize text fields for all levels
  • Can delete order level attachments
  • Can delete report level attachments
  • Can delete study level attachments
  • Can view order level attachments
  • Can view report level attachments
  • Can view study level attachments
