While viewing a study or performing a task, incoming HL7 messages, patient merge actions, and other events can trigger updates to the active patient that might affect patient care.

If the ID and assigning authority, name, date of birth, or gender of the active patient are updated, a message appears informing you that the patient data must be refreshed. To close the message dialog, click OK. The study or task is refreshed.

Any comparison study or related task you were viewing is then closed. The study or task of the active patient is displayed with updated patient data.
