Reporting using online speech recognitionTopic number: 1425414948496
Online speech recognition enables you to complete reports by speaking into a microphone connected to your system. The speech is converted to text.
- Optionally, set Online speech recognition as the preferred method for
all reading, reviewing, and sign off tasks:
- Select .
- In the Options dialog, click Text.
- From the Preferred reporting method list, select Online speech recognition.
- Click Save & close.
Even if you do not set Online speech recognition as the preferred method of reporting, once you start a reporting task you can still use this method by selecting
from the toolbar on the Report tab (not from the main toolbar). If you are using a new recording device, you must open the Audio Wizard by clicking
, and adjust audio settings. - Start a reporting task.
Reporting tasks include reading, sign off, review, correction, and transcription.
The Text area opens, displaying report, study, and (if applicable) scanned order information.
- On the microphone device, when in Record standby mode, press the
Play/Stop button to start/stop dictation (the
Record button can also be configured to start/stop dictation).
Alternatively, from the toolbar on the Report tab, click Record or, if configured, use the foot pedal that triggers the Record action.
Tip:
To discard a report after you start a reading task, in the toolbar, click No report needed. - Use your microphone device to dictate the report content in the report
sections or to fill in fields at the cursor location.
To view voice commands, say What can I say.
WARNING!
Attempting to remove a selection of text using the Scratch that speech command after stopping a recording does not remove the selected text in the audio file. This also applies when the command is linked to a SpeechMike button. However, using the Scratch that command while recording a dictation does successfully remove text in the report and in the audio file. The Scratch that command successfully removes the last dictated text without selecting it.The text that you dictate is recognized and displayed.
- Optionally, to restore the text in the report section if selected text
has been wrongly overwritten because, for example, a voice command was not recognized as a
command but as dictated text, click the Clear
button in the report toolbar and select Undo text
replacement.
Important!
Using this action restores the (wrongly) replaced text in the report, but the sound/audio corresponding to this restored text is lost. So when radiologists or correctionists play the sound file, the sound will not match the restored text. - Navigate between sections if necessary.
Note that:
- Some report sections might be defined as read-only, and so are not editable.
- Initial formatting (such as bold) might be configured for a section and be applied automatically. You can use the text formatting tools to change this.
- If you copy formatted text from another report section, the original text formatting is preserved.
- If you copy information from a DICOM SR pane, formatting is not preserved.
Tip:
To view DICOM SR panes, you might have to switch to another layout by selecting . - Play back the recording if needed, by pressing the Rewind button on your microphone device. You can correct
the recognized text as required.
Alternatively, from the toolbar on the Report tab, click Rewind or, if configured, use the foot pedal that triggers the Rewind action.
- To finish dictation, press the EOL (End of
letter) button on the microphone.
Alternatively, from the toolbar on the Report tab, click Record again or, if configured, use the foot pedal that triggers the Record action.
