Series linking: OverviewTopic number: 1425412595124

You can link series automatically or manually so that groups of series navigate simultaneously.

Navigation linking types

Three different navigation linking types are supported:

Anatomical

Viewports that are linked this way show the same anatomical position as defined within the dataset. If the dataset does not provide the necessary information, a fallback to absolute image position navigation linking is performed. Anatomical position can be linked if data is in the same frame of reference or if the data is not available, linking is determined via the table position.

Absolute image position

Images of the viewports are linked by absolute image position (which can include an offset). For example, the first slice of one viewport corresponds to the fifth slice of the second viewport. Navigation is always performed based on one slice in all linked viewports in the corresponding direction.

Relative image position

Images of the viewports are linked so that the first and last slices of all linked viewports correlate with each other. Navigation on one viewport navigates the linked viewports to the position that best corresponds to the relative position within the stack (0–100%).

How does linking work?

Linking groups are, by default, defined in the currently selected hanging protocol. In general, coplanar series of the same anatomical region are linked, forming a linking group, but does not have to be activated by default.

In addition to linking series by anatomical region, you can define complex linking groups that can contain one or more features. For details. see the Linking features overview.

Automatic linking

You can automatically link all coplanar series in the Image area. Series are linked regardless of linking groups defined in the hanging protocol, for simultaneous navigation. To link all coplanar series, click Autolink series. Autolink series

WARNING!

If you manually adjusted the navigation offset for the currently displayed series, automatic linking will undo your changes.

Manual linking

You can manually link specific series with the Simple navigation linking tool Simple navigation linking, and with the Linking editor tool Linking editor (for advanced linking). These tools are available in the Autolink series submenu. Autolink series submenu

Reset linking

To remove all linking groups, in the Image toolbar, click the arrow next to Reset all images to loaded state and select Reset linking. Reset linking
