Snapshots: ConceptsTopic number: 1516221067515
An image snapshot stores the state of images in the Image area and allows you to return the Image area to the same state later.
A snapshot includes the current state of the Image area layout, shown images, content of the clinical sidebar, linking of the viewports, markups, calibration, and so forth. Display and ordering rules do not override the snapshot.
Three different types of snapshots exist, each used in different situations. Some are created and applied manually, while others are created and applied automatically by Enterprise Imaging in response to a specific situation.
Conference snapshots
A conference snapshot is used to set up the Image area in a specific state during a conference. This allows you to prepare the Image area for each discussion task in an upcoming conference session. You can create multiple snapshots for each discussion task in a session and use the Snapshot gallery to sort and select them.
![]() | Note: The snapshot gallery only contains snapshots from all the studies loaded into the Image area as the snapshot is loaded at the same time as the study. |
When you start a discussion task during the conference session, the first snapshot is shown by default. The Snapshots available column in the session list indicates, with an icon, which studies already have snapshots available. Conference snapshots are stored on the server so that they can be accessed from any workstation.
Automatic snapshots
The use of automatic snapshots is optional for the organization. To enable this feature, contact the professional service team. Once enabled, Enterprise Imaging automatically creates an automatic snapshot whenever a user leaves a study or task. When the user returns to the study, Enterprise Imaging automatically applies the automatic snapshot to return the Image area to the saved state.
- Enterprise Imaging stores automatic snapshots on the workstation rather than the server, so a given snapshot is available only if the user opens the study or task on the same workstation.
- automatic snapshots are stored in a directory specific to the Desktop
(Diagnostic, Clinician, and so on) and to the user ID:
AgilityCache/Desktop_name/snapshots/user_ID
- Enterprise Imaging stores an automatic snapshot for each study or task the user leaves. It can store up to 20 different automatic snapshots for each user. If the number of automatic snapshots exceeds 20, Enterprise Imaging deletes the oldest one.
- Automatic snapshots are preserved after a user logs out and after an upgrade if the cache directory does not change. It is safe to delete them manually.
Set-aside snapshots
Unlike automatic snapshots, set-aside snapshots are enabled in Enterprise Imaging by default. Enterprise Imaging automatically creates a set-aside snapshot whenever a user pauses a task. When the user resumes that task, Enterprise Imaging uses the set-aside snapshot to return the Image area to the saved state.
- Enterprise Imaging stores set-aside snapshots on the server, so they are available and applied whether the user resumes the task on the same workstation or on a different one.
- Enterprise Imaging deletes a set-aside snapshot after it applies it to the Image area. It creates another one if you pause the task again.
