Adding a mask to hide or enhance volume structuresTopic number: 1509394407694

When you add a mask you can select a tool to use to create the mask and you can specify the appearance of the mask.

Prerequisite

The volume segmentation tools are available only when at least one volumetric series with a built volume is present in the current presentation group. This can be achieved, for example, by selecting a MPR hanging protocol, or by switching the render type of one of the given viewports to MPR or 3D.

To add a mask to hide or enhance volume structures
  1. On a CT volume dataset, in the Clinical sidebar, click Volume segmentation. Volume segmentation

    Note:

The Table mask icon is selected by default to automatically remove the CT table. Clicking the icon displays the removed CT table.
  2. To remove bone structures or fragments, click the Bone removal button or Bone fragment removal button. Clicking the button again displays the removed bone structures or fragments.

    Tip:

To go back and forth through the segmentation removing history, click the Undo or Redo button.
  3. To create a mask, select Add mask and select a tool. For details about how to use each tool, see:

A mask is created and the mask appears in the list of mask objects.

  4. Do one or more of the following:
    • To change the opacity and color of the mask, click Opacity and color

    • To edit the name of the mask, double-click the mask name.

    • To delete the mask, click Delete mask

      Note:

You cannot rename or delete table or bone masks, but you can instead reset them Reset mask.
    • To change the display of a mask, under Display of selected mask, click an icon.
    • To edit a mask, under Edit selected mask, click an icon.

The statistical details for the current mask are displayed in the Volume segmentation panel. These details are recalculated when a mask is edited.
