Measuring and segmenting volumes using the lung nodule toolTopic number: 1509380380728

You can create or edit a mask for volume segmentation using the lung nodule tool.

Prerequisite

The volume segmentation tools are available only when at least one volumetric series with a built volume is present in the current presentation group. This can be achieved, for example, by selecting a MPR hanging protocol, or by switching the render type of one of the given viewports to MPR or 3D.

To measure and segment volumes using the lung nodule tool
  1. On a CT volume dataset, in the Clinical sidebar, click Volume segmentation. Volume segmentation
  2. To remove bone structures or fragments, click the Bone removal button or Bone fragment removal button. Clicking the button again displays the removed bone structures or fragments.
  3. To create a mask, select Add mask > Lung nodule.
  4. Click within the nodule that you want to measure.

The calculation might take a while. While calculation is ongoing a busy indicator is shown within the Clinical sidebar

A mask is created and the lung nodule precharge mode is active.

  5. When you are finished, right-click.

This tool works in a continuous mode, meaning that a mask will automatically be created once the current lung module segmentation is completed.

If you select the lung nodule segmentation tool as an editing tool, the current mask gets replaced and you are in the Lung nodule precharge mode.
