Measuring and segmenting volumes using the magnetic lasso toolTopic number: 1509392812241

You can create and edit a mask for volume segmentation using the magnetic lasso tool.

Prerequisite

The volume segmentation tools are available only when at least one volumetric series with a built volume is present in the current presentation group. This can be achieved, for example, by selecting a MPR hanging protocol, or by switching the render type of one of the given viewports to MPR or 3D.

To measure and segment volumes using the magnetic lasso tool
  1. On a CT volume dataset, in the Clinical sidebar, click Volume segmentation. Volume segmentation
  2. To remove bone structures or fragments, click the Bone removal button or Bone fragment removal button. Clicking the button again displays the removed bone structures or fragments.
  3. To create a mask, select Add mask > Magnetic lasso.

A mask is created and the contouring precharge mode is active. The mask is selected per default.

  4. To place a contour, drag the mouse.

Intersect point are added automatically by the tool or can be added manually by a click. A contour can only be placed within a single image or on an MPR plane.

    • To remove an intersect point, click on the point.

    • To close a single contour, double-click with the left mouse button.

    • To finish, double-click with the left mouse button.

    • To cancel, right-click or press the Esc key.

If the magnetic lasso tool is selected as an editing tool, the current mask gets extended or modified and the user is in the contouring precharge mode.
