Reviewing tomosynthesis seriesTopic number: 1495179519431

Digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT), also known as 3D mammography, is an advanced imaging technology for cancer screening and detection.

Prerequisite
Tomosynthesis series are shown separately for each available mammography view in the Clinical sidebar. If one or more retakes are available for a view, they are shown as separate series. If both DBT series and mammography (MG) images are available for a view, they are displayed in a combined viewport.
To review tomosynthesis series
  1. In the series toolbar of a viewport containing a mammography view, click Switch to 3D tomosynthesis to display the available DBT series.

When a DBT display is active, a localizer image representing the breast and the currently displayed image slice is shown in the corner of the viewport. The line representing the image slice indicates both the current location and the adjustable slice thickness.

  2. To adjust the slice thickness, in the series toolbar, click Reformatting thickness and select a preset or enter the thickness manually.
  3. In the series toolbar, click Switch to 2D mammography to switch back to regular MG display.

    Tip:

You can create keyboard shortcuts to enable you to switch quickly between 2D MG and 3D DBT images of the same study. Select Tools > Options, then click Images > Shortcuts.
