Mammography image presentationTopic number: 1425412314627

Mammography images are initially displayed for optimal viewing.

Agfa HealthCare Enterprise Imaging supports combined viewports for mammography images. Combined viewports permit toggling between mammography (MG) and digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) in the same viewport. When dropping an MG or DBT image into a viewport, the viewport switches to a combined viewport automatically.

Chest wall alignmentThe chest wall of mammography images is aligned horizontally to the edge of the viewport.
Breast alignmentMammography images of the same view position in the hanging protocol are aligned vertically to the same height.
Fit breastThe magnification is maximized to fit the part of the image that contains clinical information into the viewport.
Same size scalingThe images in the hanging protocol, including images from comparison studies, are displayed using the same magnification factor.
Implant masksIf an implant is present, the implant mask is enabled. To disable implant masks, select Tools > Options. Click Images. Switch to the Mammography tab. Clear the Show implant mask checkbox. Click Save & close.
Image stackingAll images with the same laterality and view position are stacked together. You can scroll through available images using the scroll wheel. To configure image stacking, select Tools > Options. Click Images. Switch to the Mammography tab. Select the option you need from the Image stack by list. Click Save & close.

The behavior of some image viewing tools is different when viewing mammography images:

InvertingInverting is applied to all mammography images in the presentation group. The background area of the image is not inverted and remains black.
ZoomingYou can set an initial magnification factor when mammography images are displayed in the Image area, and set an additional magnification factor for zooming all visible mammography images simultaneously. Select Tools > Options. Click Images. Switch to the Mammography tab. Set the value for Magnification factor of additional zoom tool in percent . Click Save & close.

The additional zoom shortcut toggles between the initial zoom and the additional zoom factor,. When applies, it removes any prior zoom changes.

Panning

When zooming and panning mammography images, the image aligns with the chest wall to the corresponding viewport border (left breast, chest wall left; right breast, chest wall right; dorsal view inverts this) so that no gap appears between the image and the viewport border. To pan the breast away from the chest wall, drag the image far from the chest wall (to at least 5% of the monitor width). Dragging the image close to the chest wall (within 2.5 % monitor width) reattaches the image.

When you detach images to pan them independently, paired panning is deactivated until you reattach all images to their initial viewports.

Paired zoom and panZooming and panning is applied to breast images of the same view position in the hanging protocol. To disable paired zoom and pan, select Tools > Options. Click Images. Switch to the Mammography tab. Clear the Link zoom and pan interactions on paired images checkbox. Click Save & close.
Paired window levelingWindow leveling is applied to breast images of the same view position and of the same type in the same study.

These features are defined in the system hanging protocols for mammography. If you create custom mammography hanging protocols, the functionality might be absent until configured manually.

Important!

Some of these features do not apply to studies of only part of the breast or to digitized film images.
