Registering comparison studies by using the ad hoc registration toolTopic number: 1504882274775
Registration enables you to compare studies with active study data to align them for reading. This tool is available from the context menu, by default for CT/MR and NM/PT data.
![]() | CAUTION! Comparison study data is reformatted during registration. This icon warns that a viewport contains reformatted rather than original image data:
Every registration made within Enterprise Imaging is valid only while the dataset is loaded—registrations do not persist. |
You can only register studies if the series are part of different frame of references, and no registration already exists for the pairs of frame of references. If you place overlays (such as measurements and highlights) on one series and register this series with another, the overlays are not registered to the other series (or the other frame of reference).
- In the Image area, load both active and comparison study series.
- In the context menu click Registration.
If the mouse is within a viewport that does not support registration (for example. non-volumetric dataset, dataset of the same frame of reference), a forbidden sign is shown.
- Once the tool is active, click on the first series, then the second
series.
A progress bar in the viewport of the comparison series indicates that registration is being calculated.
No linking between the registered datasets is performed.
If one of the viewports contains a PET dataset that will be registered with another study, the following rules will apply for the PET study:
- If that study has a CT (which overlaps >70% volume) available, then the CT will be used for registration
- Else, if an MR (which overlaps >70% volume) is available, then that will be used
- Else, if PET transmission series (which overlaps >70% volume) is available, then that will be used (PET transmission is preferred over PET emission)
- Else, if PET NAC is available, then that will be used (PET NAC is preferred over PET AC)
- To modify or delete the registration if needed, use the tools in the
Registration tab of the Clinical sidebar.
WARNING!
Cursor mode functionality (Locate a point in other series) can be restricted or inaccurate while working with registered studies. The accuracy of registration strongly depends on the source data used for calculation.
