Open the Audio Wizard to detect the audio settings such as playback volume, recording volume, and silence detection level. These adjustments improve speech recognition and sound quality.
The Audio Wizard starts up automatically at the beginning of a dictation, if you are a new user, or if you use online speech recognition for the first time on another workstation. The option is disabled if online speech recognition is not set up or available.
To adjust audio settings
- Select .
- Ensure that your microphone and speakers are connected and click Next.
- Adjust the playback volume.
- To hear a sample text read out, click Start test.
- To end the test, click Stop Test.
- To continue, click Next.
- Set the recording volume and silence detection level, as necessary.
- Click Start Recording.
- Read out the text on your screen.
- Continue reading this text twice or more until a message appears.
- Repeat or proceed as appropriate.
If your audio system is: Then: Not adequate for online speech recognition. An error message appears. Repeat step 4. Set up correctly and suitable for working with online speech recognition. A message appears that the Audio Wizard is complete. Proceed to the next step. - Make a test recording, as necessary.
- To start recording, click Record.
- To listen to what you recorded, click Play.
- To close the Audio Wizard, click Finish.
