Set up and configure your microphone to start using speech recognition and online dictation for reporting.
Prerequisite
- Ensure your speech microphone is connected.
- Make sure that your workstation is not close to a source of any background noise.
- Contact your administrator to confirm you are a recognized speech user.
To use your microphone in a correct way
- Hold the microphone at a constant distance from your mouth. In a quiet environment - 10 cm/4 inches. In a noisy one reduce it to 5 cm/2 inches.
- Hold the microphone in a comfortable manner, and avoid any scratching or rubbing motions that could affect the recognition results.
- Avoid heavy breathing noise by positioning the microphone below or to the side of your mouth instead of directly in front of it.
- When dictating to a microphone on the table, watch out for any surface vibrations that can be conducted to the microphone and which can affect recognition results.
