Insert predefined text from a text macro into a report from a catalog of available text macros. By using a text macro, you fill information into reports more efficiently and increase consistency.

To insert a text macro in a report
  1. In the Text area on the Report tab, start dictating or typing a report.
  2. Use one of the following methods:
    • Text macro panel—Select from a list of matching text macros.

      Note:

      • To display the Text macro panel, on the report toolbar click the Text macros button and select Show matching text macros. Text macro

      Note:

In the Medical Secretary Desktop, users can also use and search for text macros used by the report author or the task assignment groups the author belongs to. In a multi-author reporting workflow, the last author’s text macro and those of all report authors’ task assignment groups are available.
    • Voice command—Say the voice command prefix configured in the Administrator Desktop and the configured voice command (online speech recognition).

To see the voice command to insert, hover over a text macro in the Text macro panel.

If, during a reading task, you create a text macro and configure a voice command for it, you can insert this new text macro using the voice command in your current report only after saving this report: select Pause reading pause and then Resume reading. You can now insert the new text macro using the voice command in your current report.

    • Keyboard shortcut—Type the macro code, followed by Alt + J.

To see the code to insert, hover over a text macro in the Text macro panel.

Text from the text macro is inserted into the relevant report sections.
