Starting tasks, task lists, and collectionsTopic number: 1425411659844

You can navigate through tasks in several ways: you can either work through a list or a selection of tasks or randomly pick an individual task.

To start tasks, task lists, and collections
Do one of the following:
  • Select the assignment and click Start task_type (for example, Start reading) on the toolbar.

    Note:

When double-clicking a task, the task is displayed in the Text area and started automatically, if the option Start task is selected in Options > Lists > Double-click on study/task. Otherwise, the task is opened in the Text area without being started.
Depending on how the list option Open/start selection is configured:
    • The selected items are not added to the My selection list.
    • The selected items are added to the My selection list just before the last study worked on.
    • The existing selection in the My selection list is cleared and replaced with the selected items. This only applies if selecting multiple studies.
  • In the Task toolbar, click Start list.

The tasks start automatically, in sequence.

To navigate to other tasks, use the list control.

  • Optionally, to start the list displaying images differently from your default settings, with several tasks selected, click the arrow beside Start list:

  • If you have applied the inline filter (for example, you have typed CT in the Modality type column, or selected Last week in the Study date column), select Start filtered list.

The tasks in the selection start automatically, in sequence.

To navigate to other tasks, use the list control.

  • To work through a selection of tasks of the same task type, in a list with one or more tasks selected, right-click and select Start task_type. If tasks of different task types are selected, select Start selection.

The tasks in the selection start automatically, in sequence.

To navigate to other tasks, use the list control.

When you have worked through the selection, the list is displayed again.

After completing all tasks, you are returned to the List area.

Tip:

To treat patients on a first-come, first-served basis, you can sort tasks in the List or Search area by the patient arrival time. First configure the Patient arrival date/time column in the List area: right-click a column heading and select Customize columns. Select Patient arrival date/time column and click Move. Right arrow Click OK. Click the column header to sort tasks.

In Tools > Options, Lists, Colors tab, you can also configure tasks to be highlighted in a specific color in the List area if patient waiting time since arrival or since scheduled study time exceeds a defined period. Use the Waiting time since patient arrived and Waiting time since scheduled date/time (used when a patient arrived only) criteria.

Examples:

Blue | Waiting time since patient arrived | greater than | 40 minutes

The patient record in the List area is marked with blue if the difference between current time and patient arrival time is longer than 40 minutes.

Violet | Waiting time since scheduled date/time | greater than | 15 minutes

The patient record in the List area is marked with violet if the difference between current time and scheduled study date and time is longer than 15 minutes. This criterion is only used when a patient arrived.
