Several types of report contributors exist.

Report contributor	Tasks performed
Transcriptionists and correctionists	Transcribes or corrects a report. Transcriptionists create preliminary reports. Usually, they send them back to the author without changing the status.
Author	Performs reading tasks, sign-off tasks, or addendum reading tasks.
Partial approver	Partially validates the report by sending it to a co-author.
Reviewer	Performs review tasks.
Approver	Validates the report. When a report is signed-off in the Medical Secretary Desktop, the author is marked as the approver.
