The Search page contains search criteria and a panel for viewing search results. You can perform a simple or advanced search of the local system, a local folder, a CD/DVD drive, a DICOM device or an Enterprise search across multiple internal and external systems.
Overview
The Search page consists of the following:

1 | Navigation toolbar | Provides navigation to the List area, Text area, Image area, and Calendar. |
2 | Task toolbar | Displays tool buttons related to the items selected in the navigation area or active list. Options change based on what is selected. |
3 | Started tasks | Shows all unfinished tasks. |
4 | Activities overview | Displays the tasks and studies of interest: a To do list of tasks, the Follow-up items to monitor, and sometimes Conferences. |
5 | Search criteria | Displays search criteria to use for finding studies. Criteria
is customizable. Criteria types include drop-down lists, standard text fields (that
support wildcards), constrained text fields, and date fields. Also contains the option for switching between simple and advanced search. |
6 | Search results | Results based on the selected search criteria. In simple search the results are studies; in advanced search, you can also search for tasks. |
Typical tasks
- To display search results, type or select one or more search criteria and click Search.
- From the In list, you can select a location other than System from which to retrieve data.
- In Simple search where results are studies, task details appear in the Task info column.
- The task toolbar include options that apply to all results, such as Open list. To get options for a particular item, select that item. You can also right-click an item to get a menu of commands that apply to it.
- To perform an advanced search, click Advanced.
- To change search criteria, in the search criteria area, right-click and select Customize search.
Permissions
To access the Search page, you must have the permission Can access Search area.
To perform an advanced search, you must have the permission Can access advanced search criteria. For more on permissions, see Security roles: Concepts.
